[Nero looks tired, a bit grim, like he's been thinking too much. He's sitting on some crates in Cerulean, either just about to just having finished some heavy lifting. Beside him is Basilisk, still a houndour and still as icy and collected in temperament, his fur wet for reasons yet unexplained.]

Got the Cascade badge. This guy did a number on that Starmie.

[Ah, so that would be why. There's a spot of hesitation in Nero's voice when he glances at the Houndour: with Agnus here, the name, which seemed clever at the time, makes bile rise in his throat.]

Might cross Mt Moon to get to Pewter, haven't decided yet. Apparently it takes a while to get through. [It's strange for him to actively want to be away from Kyrie, so he's naturally hesitating. Flying back to Vermillion and then taking Diglett's Cave would be quicker, but...] Man, after all that trash I could use some time off, though. Dante, Trish--Miyuki said she wanted to head to Cinnabar and see the beach. You guys up for it? If you take the train to Saffron, I could meet you there once I'm done with this crap.

[There's some sound, so Nero flips the gear to show his new baby Deino. She's got her face rammed into her food bowl, little puff of a tail wiggling behind her, not unlike a dog. In fact, Basilisk leaps down to join her, and the little dragon easily dwarfs the pooch.] That's right, the egg hatched. How's yours doing, kid? [When Basilisk butts Deino's head out of the way and attacks her bowl, Nero doesn't intervene. None of his other pokemon are visible when he turns the gear back towards himself, presumably tucked away in their balls.]

Anyway. I got work to do.

I was merely curious. Scars can sometimes tell stories that words cannot.

Maybe that's true, but I don't have any scars, and in this place, I'm not the one doing the fighting anyway.

[Checking out a gnarly scar would have been kind of cool.]

Is it really only the animals that fight?

[An arched brow, because lady, ew, but then a shrug.]

I would if I could, but anything that isn't sparring gets you in the slammer.

And what if one were to encounter someone who works outside of the law?

Then I'd give 'em what for.

So it isn't unheard of, a trainer having to fight.

It's illegal, not impossible.

[Well, it isn't surprising, though a little part of her had hoped this place could really be as perfect as it seemed.]

Of course. It would be silly to think otherwise, no?

Little bit. You looking for a fight or something?

[She shakes her head "no", but she's smiling.]

I expect a fight or two may come looking for me, before long.

[A beat.]

How come? You need protection, lady?

[She leans her chin on the back of her hand]

Are you in the business of protecting people?

I'm in the business of giving assholes a hard time.

[The best answer.]

[It IS the best answer. And it makes Robin giggle.]

Well, if you happen to find yourself in the area, I certainly wouldn't mind a helping hand.

What area's that? 'Cause it doesn't look like I'm getting out of Kanto anytime soon.

[She frowns a little at that. Needless to say, she's Very Far Away.]

You'll know it when I see you.

[Have a gracious smile for your efforts, though.]

[He figures there's a reason she isn't telling, and it's probably related to the people she's got chasing after her.]

I hope that fight doesn't get brought too soon, then. Watch your back.

You're very kind. I don't think I caught your name.

[He glances away, lips pursed like he's not sure what to make of that statement. The only person who's ever called him 'kind' before was Kyrie.]

Nero. You?

[Not that he's necessarily expecting a name, or at least not a real one.]

[She's used to everyone knowing who she is, so she isn't incredibly guarded about her name.]

Robin. We'll have to keep in touch, don't you think?

Guess so. You hitting the road?

[A quick nod.]

Mm. There's a lot to explore. It wouldn't do to just sit around in a city.
